In Flagrante by Chris Killip

In flagrante, a series of images showed us the impacts of de-industrialisation in the British community. A work that became a classic and an essential look at Street Photography.

A black and white picture allows us to reflect on the moment that Chris Killip wanted to share with the people when looking into his work.

Youth on Wall, Jarrow, Tyneside, UK, 1976, Chris Killip

This first picture of youth in the wall shows us a great composition where we can see the subject seated acting almost in suffering or pain. The subject is very well in focus, where the background is blurry. He could take the picture from a short distance rather than a zoom lens.

A Car Dumped on the Beach Has to Be Outmanoeuvred by the Seacoalers, Lynemouth, Northumberland, UK, 1982, Chris Killip

A picture with some chaos going on. A car, a man and a horse together by the sea. However, the composition is excellent, and Killip shows us some movement in this image. I can see that the horse was undoubtedly moving due to the blurry legs, torso, and head. The man is also moving, trying to control the horse moves.
