Developing Ideas and Initial Research

At this stage I know where I want to go, I will choose Street Photography as my final project at DMUIC. Something that I have not done before and I do like to have some experience on this. At this stage of my project I have looked into some photographers and I will research more about their works, Nicholas Goodden and Rui Palha, both Street Photographers that I feel inspired by. My initial idea will be to capture people on the public transports in London. People waiting on platforms, seated, in group or alone.

Looking at Nicholas Goodden and Rui Palha photographs I can see some of the examples that I feel inspired by. The idea of this project is not to reproduced any of this content but create my one, moreover, these examples listed below are a good example of the project that I want to bring to life and more research in depth from both artists will be done further with the progression of my project.

In the meanwhile I found it very interesting information about Street Photography that I found relevant for this project. Doing research on the topic itself is so important as looking in depth for different artists works. As a non-experiment street photographer having a look in some tips in how to consolidate a project like this is very useful.

A style of photography that aims to capture everyday life. This can include people or simply objects left behind (NFI, 2022).
According to Nashville Film Institute (2022), a good street photographer needs to have a subject or a moment defined. The photographs need to follow the rules of photography in composition such as rule of thirds for example. This will be quite challenging for a busy place such as a train station, where are, almost, no rules of where people can stand while waiting for their transport. Furthermore, I will be in London soon to explore some of the options that I have and shoot some photographs and explore different techniques, such staying in one place and wait for a subject to capture or move in between the crowd.
I will be shooting this by using a Canon 700D that I will borrow from AV Loans and I will try with different lens.

  1. Okay it is a start - remember you need more in depth research where you technically and aesthetically discuss these images
